Washington Sundar, the successor of India&#8217;s seasoned off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, gave his reaction as his mentor from Tamil Nadu <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cricketcountry.com\/news\/breaking-ravichandran-ashwin-announces-retirement-from-international-cricket-following-brisbane-test-1216526\/\">announced his retirement<\/a> from international cricket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Washington went on to his &#8216;X&#8217; (formerly known as Twitter) account, and shared a heartfelt message for his mentor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"und\" dir=\"ltr\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ashwinravi99?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@ashwinravi99<\/a> \ud83d\udc10\ud83e\udd0d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/z4VlTpVf4M\">pic.twitter.com\/z4VlTpVf4M<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Washington Sundar (@Sundarwashi5) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Sundarwashi5\/status\/1869282320458698804?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 18, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;<strong><em>More than just a teammate &#8211; Ash anna, you have been an inspiration, a mentor and a true champion of the game. It&#8217;s been an honor to share the field and the dressing room with you<\/em><\/strong>,&#8221; Sundar wrote in his post.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;<em><strong>Coming from the same state of TN, I have grown up watching you from the close corners of Chepauk to playing against you and alongside you. Every moment has been a privilege. The learnings, both on and off the field are something I will carry with me forever. Wishing you success and happiness in whatever comes next<\/strong><\/em>,&#8221; the post further read.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both Sundar and Ashwin are with India during tour of Australia for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, where Sundar was the part of first Test, and Ashwin came in the second Test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ashwin featured for India in 106 Test matches, including his last appearance in the pink-ball Test of the ongoing five-match Test series against Australia.
