Indian men’s former batting coach Sanjay Bangar recently picked his World Test XI among current cricketers. Though he even picked the retired Rahul Dravid, he did not pick the England current player Joe Root and Australian Steve Smith.
On the Rao Podcast, Bangar picked a squad which had seven Indian players. Warner and Rohit are the openers of the squad, followed by Kane Williamson and Virat Kohli. Rishabh Pant is selected as the wicketkeeper-batter for the team, while Ben Stokes is the all-rounder pace bowler. Two spin-bowlers of the team are Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin.
The final three fast bowlers are Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and Josh Hazlewood.
The three highest run-scorers of WTC history, namely Joe Root, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith were not picked by Bangar for the World Test XI. Root is by now the highest run-scorer in WTC with 4,702 runs in 56 Tests averaging at 50.55 with 14 centuries and 20 fifties.
