India A bowler Prasidh Krishna lost his temper after the on-field umpire declined his request to change the ball on Day 2 of the second Test match against Australia A on Friday.

As he was disappointed with the state of the ball, Krishna went to umpire to ask for a change. However, the umpire declined his request and ordered for the game to continue.

Krishna showed the ball to the umpire and was seen discussing the condition with him. Indian pacer Khaleel Ahmed and Ruturaj Gaikwad were also involved in this conversation. The umpire was spotted giving explanation regarding the ball.

Even though the discussion was not clear, the commentators made assumptions that the ball might have been sprayed with a green dye or some sort of ‘paint.’

Before the Australia series, Indian team were supposed to play a three-day game against India A at the WACA stadium in order to prepare for the first test on the overseas soil, though The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declined this idea.

According to ESPNcricinfo, India was going to start the tour with a warm-up match against India A from November 15 to 17.

However this can be understood and the Indian hierarchy has decided to now take training for these three days which includes net sessions and centre-wicket match sessions in WACA.

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali expressed his disappointment over the heated on-field incident between Pakistan A’s Sufiyan Muqeem and India A’s Abhishek Sharma during the ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Basit criticized Muqeem’s behaviour and emphasized that young cricketers need to learn sportsmanship and respect the opponent.

“The cricket was top-class, but one thing that really upset me was the incident involving Sufiyan Muqeem and Abhishek Sharma. If I were sitting in the dugout or the team manager, I would have told Sufiyan, ‘Son, pick up your things and go back.’ You haven’t even played proper cricket for Pakistan yet, and you’re already using abusive language. What kind of behaviour is this?” Basit said.

“You’re hurling abuses, did you take a hat-trick or something? You’re not at that level yet. The management needs to teach young players how to respect the opposition,” Basit added.

The controversial moment occurred during a tense clash between India A and Pakistan A at Al Amerat. After Abhishek had gotten off to a fine start, scoring 35 runs off 22 deliveries, his innings would be brought to an end by Muqeem thanks to a sharp catch by Qasim Akram.

After the dismissal, Muqeem made a “silence gesture” toward Abhishek, which infuriated the Indian opener, leading to a heated exchange. Umpires Chamara de Zoysa and Rahul Asher had to step in to restore order.

The match ended up going down to the wire and ended with India A clinching a narrow 7-run victory. After scoring a great total of 183/8 in 20 overs, India would triumph by restricting their arch-rivals for 176/7.

On the opening day of their Duleep Trophy match against India C, here on Thursday, India A amassed 224 for seven thanks to a remarkable comeback lead by Shashwat Rawat, who scored an undefeated 122.

Only Shams Mulani (44 off 76), who bats left-handed for Baroda in local cricket, provided support for the left-hander when India A was reduced to 36 for five in the 20th over.

The captain Mayank Agarwal, Riyan Parag, Tilak Varma, and centurion Pratham Singh all scored single digits in the previous game. Anshul Kamboj, the pacer for India C, was once again the team’s most valuable bowler after taking eight wickets in one innings last week.

Rawat, who amassed 15 fours in his undefeated 235-ball effort, had a knock to remember. Throughout his magnificent innings, the graceful southpaw produced a variety of wonderful strokes, such as reverse sweeps off the spinners and cover drives.

After helping the squad win the previous game with the bat, bowling all-rounder Mulani again came to the team’s aid with the bat in a crucial 87-run partnership.

On day two, India C, who currently top the Duleep Trophy rankings with nine points, will want to dismiss India A as soon as possible.

India Agarwal, the captain, has not had a memorable tournament, and on Thursday, his poor performance continued. The same is true for Riyan Parag, who made many promises but hasn’t been able to commit time to the midfield.

Brief scores: 224/7 in 77 overs (Shashwat Rawat 122 batting, Shams Mulani 44; Anshul Kamboj 3/40, Vijaykumar Vyshak 2/33).

After the third day of their Duleep Trophy match here on Saturday, Tilak Varma and Pratham scored easy hundreds to put India A ahead of India D.

With an unbeaten 111 (193 balls, 9×4), Varma did not derail his hopes of continuing to be seen in the Indian system. Meanwhile, Pratham hit a remarkable 122 (189 balls, 12×4, 1×6), and India A declared their second innings ended at 380 for three.

With Atharva Taide out of the picture, India D managed to cut 62 runs off their 488 target, giving them an overall lead of 487.

For India D, the crease was manned by Yash Dubey (15) and Ricky Bhui (44).

Following his return from the overnight 59, Pratham played with more fluency and completed his 100 in just 149 balls during the first session.

But before the conclusion of the first session, the 32-year-old Railways hitter was dismissed by left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar. Pratham and Varma combined for 104 runs at the second wicket.

Nevertheless, Varma, who was once considered by Rohit Sharma to be India’s next all-format player, performed admirably, finishing undefeated at 60 after reaching his fifty a little sooner off 96 balls. India A began the day at 115 for one and had a respectable 260 for two for lunch.

However, soon after things resumed, India After 20 years without Riyan Parag, Varma discovered Shashwat Rawat to be an equally committed partner.

Without breaking apart, the fourth-wicket combination scored 116 runs, giving India A total command of the game.

With a late cut to the third man region off off-spinner Saransh Jain, which brought the left-hander two runs, Varma achieved his fifth First-Class hundred. He reached his century off 177 balls.

After reaching 370 for three at the end of the tea break, India A batted for almost fifteen minutes in the final session before calling the innings ended.

Even though pacer Khaleel Ahmed dismissed India D’s starter Taide in the third over, Dubey and Bhui made sure that their team would not suffer any more losses going into the final day.

Brief Scores:

India A: 290 all out and 380 for 3 declared in 98 overs (Pratham Singh 122, Tilak Varma 111 not out, Shashwat Rawat 64 not out) vs India D: 183 all out and 62/1 in 19 overs (Ricky Bhui batting 44).

On the opening day of India A’s Duleep Trophy match against India D here on Thursday, bowling all-rounder Shams Mulani led his team to a stunning comeback, taking them to 288 for eight. Mulani was on the verge of scoring his first-class hundred.

India A was reduced to 93 for five inside the first session, but Mulani (88 not out off 174) and fellow Mumbai teammate Tanush Kotian (53 off 80) fashioned a 91-run stand to save the day.

Mulani received crucial assistance from Kumar Kushagra (28 off 66), who hit eight fours and three sixes in his undefeated effort. On Friday, the southpaw would be looking to beat his personal best score of 97.

Mulani, whose primary position on the team is spinner, used his feet to good advantage against the slow bowlers, particularly Saurabh Kumar, another left-armer. His play square of the wicket was particularly noticeable against the faster bowlers.

Shortly after hitting bowler Arshdeep Singh for a maximum over deep square leg, he reached his half-century with a six off Saurabh.

In the morning session, Vidwath Kaverappa, in his debut game of the competition, removed opponent captain Mayank Agarwal (7) and Pratham Singh (7). Pacer Harshit Rana was excellent once again for India D.

India Captain Agarwal’s poor performance in the competition continued when he was overtaken by a stunning shot from Kaverappa. Pratham used a standard pull stroke, which resulted in a deep rearward square leg hole.

Again, Riyan Parag (37 off 29) was guilty of not lingering in the middle long enough while displaying some beautiful strokeplay. Arshdeep set up a wide delivery to trap the batter in the slips, and Parag accepted the bait.

Even Tilak Varma (10) was unable to have an effect.

Harshit dismissed Prasidh Krishna at leg slip towards the end of the day with a well-placed short ball.

A well-set Kotian was guilty of throwing his wicket away as he offered a straight catch to Arshdeep at mid-on off Saurabh in the 67th over, ending an innings-defining partnership.

Brief scores: India A 288/8 in 82 overs (Sham Mulani 88 batting, Tanush Kotian 53; Harshit Rana 2/49, Vidhwath Kaverappa 2/30, Arshdeep Singh 2/73).
