After being a part of the side’s title-winning Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign, Shaw went to his social media and expressed his frustration for not being picked in the 16-member squad for Vijay Hazare Trophy.

“In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, we were playing with 10 fielders as we were forced to hide Prithvi Shaw. The ball would pass near him and he would barely be able to get to it,” the official said on conditions of anonymity.

“Even while batting, we could see he was troubled reaching to the ball. His fitness, discipline and attitude are poor and it is pretty simple, there cannot be different rules for different players,” he claimed.

“Even the seniors in the team have started complaining about his attitude now,” he added.

When the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was underway, Shaw had missed training sessions regularly after being out of the hotel for all night and returning at “six in the morning”.

“You would be wrong to think such posts on social media would have any impact on the Mumbai selectors and the MCA,” he added.

The official gave this statement about the off-field activities by Shaw drawing lot of attraction is because he is not not doing any justice for these activities by countering and performing well in the game.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has already announced the 17-member squad for the ongoing tournament. As far as it goes for Suryakumar, he has been added to the team under Shreyas Iyer or the ongoing event. Suryakumar had earlier played one game in the last moment of Ranji Trophy against Maharashtra, and even scored seven runs in the first inning.

According to Times of India, the star batter has been added to the Mumbai squad for the upcoming fixture of Tuesday, December 3. It is, however, going to be that the Indian skipper will be playing under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer.

“He has informed us that he is willing to play the last T20 game and MCA has added his name. He will be flying on Monday,” said a source in the MCA.

The report claimed that a Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) source stated that Iyer will not travel to Agartala for the next match of Mumbai, which will begin October 26. Also, MCA will not announce any replacement for Iyer in the squad for the ficture.

Shreyas had earlier mentioned that after breaking the three-figures in Test cricket he had to listen to his body irrespective of what people have to say about it.

“No matter whatever people think outside, I have to listen to my body because I know the amount of threshold I’ve carried over the last few years and based on that I’ll be taking the right decision and I hope that my team will also back (me),” Shreyas stated.

“So far, the cause of accident is not clear. The car flipped on the road four to five times which resulted in Musheer’s serious injury,” said a source.

Though there is no official statement from Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), Musheer will be put to rest from the Irani Cup that is set to begin from October 1 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.

“On the recommendation of Cricket Improvement Committee, applications are hereby invited for the post of Mumbai Senior Men Team Coach,” the MCA stated in a note posted on its website, adding that the interested candidates should apply before May 24.

As per its eligibility criteria, the applicant “should have played at least 50 first-class matches, should be NCA certified coach, should have experience of coaching a state team/IPL franchisee/NCA and should be residing in Mumbai.” Last season, Mumbai had initially appointed Amit Pagnis as the coach for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, but after its disastrous show in the national T20 tournament, he stepped down.

The cricket body then named former India off-spinner Ramesh Powar as the head coach for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which the domestic giants won. Mumbai have won the coveted Ranji Trophy a record 41 times.

Mumbai, missing both their star players, suffered a humiliating 10-wicket defeat on Friday against Railways at the Wankhede Stadium in their Ranji match. The match which began on December 25 last only for three days.

According to a report in the Times of India on Saturday, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has taken note of Iyer and Dube’s absence and both may end up in trouble for their no-show. Iyer and Dube will both be unavailable for their Ranji match against Karnataka at the BKC Complex that begins from January 3 owing to national duties. The MCA selectors may be asked not to pick them in future till they give an explanation.

“It’s an unfortunate episode for Mumbai cricket. They told us they had been ‘advised rest’ by the BCCI. However, when we checked with the selectors, we were told that there was no such instruction sent out from the selectors, at least. So who asked them to rest? The physio of the Indian team or the trainer? Or they did choose to rest themselves and fired from the Board’s shoulders? This is something, that no one in the MCA, including the selectors, has appreciated. This issue will surely be discussed in the next Apex Council meeting of the association. We may take some sort of action soon,” a top MCA official was quoted as saying in the report.

Another MCA official gave the examples of players like Eknath Solkar and Sudhakar Adhikari who gave Mumbai cricket their first priority. “Eknath Solkar went from the crematorium, after his father expired, to the Brabourne Stadium and won Mumbai the Ranji final. Sudhakar Adhikari got married at 9.03 am and then rushed to the Brabourne Stadium, scored a hundred and went back to the reception hall in the evening to celebrate with his team-mates. Today’s youngsters just don’t have the same kind of commitment towards Mumbai,” another official explained.
