Ajinkya Naik Makes History as Mumbai Cricket Association’s Youngest President
“It’s a win for Mumbai maidan and their club secretaries as I’m just one of them. I have been part of various committees for more than one decade. My journey has been one of a pyramid. The result came per my expectations,” Ajinkya said after the win.

At the age of 37, Ajinkya Naik becomes the Mumbai Cricket Association’s youngest president. Sanjay Naik, the candidate of Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar, has been defeated by Naik. In a lopsided poll on Tuesday, Ajunkya prevailed by 107 votes.
“It’s a win for Mumbai maidan and their club secretaries as I’m just one of them. I have been part of various committees for more than one decade. My journey has been one of a pyramid. The result came per my expectations,” Ajinkya said after the win.
Ajinkya received 221 votes, while Sanjay received 114, according to sources in the media.
The Mumbai Cricket Association has always had political support. Ajinkya was aided by “unseen powers,” much like Sanjay Naik, who was supported by Ashish Shelar, the head of the Mumbai BJP.
“There were a lot of unseen powers, and slowly you will come to know who they were . Our mentor is Sharad Pawar sir. We have been following him for long now,” he added.
