Pakistan pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi scripted history during the first T20I of the 3-match series against South Africa in Durban. Shaheen finished with commendable figures of 3/22 in 4 overs to help his side restrict the hosts to 183/9 in 20 overs.

With this impressive bowling spell, the pacer completed 100 wickets in the shortest format of the game. Shaheen had already clinched over 100 wickets in both the ODI and Test formats which meant that he became the first-ever player from Pakistan to take 100 wickets in all the 3 formats.

Shaheen became the third Pakistan bowler from his country to complete 100 T20I wickets behind Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan. The left-arm pacer has so far taken 112 wickets in ODIs and 116 scalps in Test cricket.

The 3-wicket haul against South Africa saw Shaheen complete 100 scalps in his 74th match in the shortest format. This made him the second-fastest Pakistan bowler to achieve the feat behind Rauf, who took 71 matches to complete 100 scalps in the format.

Overall, Shaheen became the youngest to achieve the feat and joined the ranks of New Zealand’s Tim Southee, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan, and Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga.

Coming to the match, Shaheen dismissed the likes of Rassie van der Dussen, Davis Miller and Nqabayomzi Peter to help Pakistan restrict the Proteas to a total of 183/9 in 20 overs.

In reply, Pakistan lost Babar Azam for a duck and the other batters also found it difficult to counter against the South African bowlers. Skipper Mohammad Rizwan played a fine knock of 74 runs, but found no support from the other end as Pakistan finished their 20 overs on 172/8, losing the match by 11 runs.

Pakistan cricketers received a massive boost on the ICC ODI rankings just months before the 2025 Champions Trophy tournament commences in the country. The Men in Green pulled off an amazing victory by 2-1 against Australia in the recently-concluded ODI series. This was the team’s first series victory in Australia in 22 years.

Pacer Shaheen Afridi re-claimed the top spot on the latest ODI bowler rankings. This comes after he picked up 8 wickets in th3 ODI series against Australia at a brilliant average of 12.62.

It saw Afridi move up three places and take the pole position from South Africa spinner Keshav Maharaj, who fell down to the third spot. On the other hand, Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan remained second. Afridi previously held the number 1 spot on the bowlers ranking midway through last year’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India.

Afridi’s teammate Haris Rauf jumped 14 places to 13th overall and reached a new career-high rating following his 10 wickets and Player of the Series heroics against Australia. Another Pakistan pacer, Naseem Shah also went up by 14 places to reach the 55th position.

Afridi’s rise to the top of the bowling charts means that Pakistan now have the top-ranked player in both batting and bowling in ODI cricket, with former skipper Babar Azam increasing his lead at the top of the batter charts following his total of 80 runs in the Australia series.

On the other hand, new skipper Mohammad Rizwan also made gains on the list for ODI batters and reached the 23rd position following his 74 runs in Australia.

Pakistan registered only their second series triumph Down Under in the 21st century with an 8-wicket win over Australia in the third ODI at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Sunday. The Men in Green’s last series victory over Australia in a in a 3-match ODI contest back in 2002.

Winning the toss, Pakistan’s newly-appointed captain Mohammad Rizwan had no hesitation in fielding first as he wanted to unleash his pace quartet on a fresh and bouncy Perth wicket.

Pacers Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah took 3 wickets each and tore apart the Australian top order. Haris Rauf chipped in with 2 more wickets as the visitors bundled out the hosts for a mere 140-run total in Perth. The Australian batting order completely crumbled in the absence of their senior pros who had left the squad to prepare for the Border-Gavaskar series.

Chasing the modest target of 141, Pakistan openers Abdullah Shafique (42) and Saim Ayub (37) broke Australia’s morale with their partnership of 84 runs.

Finally, a 58-run stand between Babar Azam (28*) and Rizwan (30*) would be enough for the visitors to complete the chase in only 26.5 overs. This victory will be nothing short of a huge confidence booster for the Men in Green, who will next be facing the Baggy Greens in a 3-match T20I series starting from November 14.

In the deciding match of the series at Perth stadium, Maxwell got dismissed for a duck in two balls by Haris as he played a role in the collapse of batting.

Maxwell came in to bat during the 17th over. In the very next over, Maxwell closed his batting time as a thick edge from his bat sent the ball to the backward point fielder Saim Ayub.

Maxwell has now been clocked in for being dismissed thrice in nine balls by Haris. In the series opener, he was taken by surprise with a back of the length delivery where he edged it to Mohammad Rizwan.

Haris Rauf stole the light as Pakistan destroyed Australia by 9 wickets at Adelaide Oval. The pacer had a massive contribution in Pakistan’s 9-wicket victory on Friday, as he finished with numbers of 8-0-29-5. Pakistan completed their chase of 164 with 23.3 overs remaining as they were playing on a superb batting pitch.

Haris being named as the Player of the Match was hardly shocking. Even Pakistan faced fall of two wickets, Rauf was nothing less in pressuring Australian batters at the MCG.

Efforts by Haris were however, not gone to waste in Adelaide. He is one of the players who is quite familiar with Australian circumstances.

Haris remembered about the days when he used to play with the Melbourne stars (in the Big Bash league) which helped him perform well, as he knew about the conditions beforehand.

We are happy to win this game. We have fans everywhere in the world, we are just trying to give them happiness. I have played a lot of games for the Melbourne Stars, so I knew these conditions,” said Haris Rauf in the post-match presentation.

Haris has made sure that Pakistan will have a high chance of defeating Australia in a bilateral series far from home.

Pakistan batter Kamran Ghulam made a sensation debut in Test cricket and smashed a fabulous century against England to help the Men in Green end the first day in a decent position. Ghulam would eventually get dismissed on 118 by England spinner Shoaib Bashir during the final session of the day.

With Ghulam dominating the conversation of social media, an old video has resurfaced showing a controversial moment involving the cricketer in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Back in 2022, Ghulam got slapped by Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf while playing for the Lahore Qalandars.

Ghulam dropped a catch off Rauf’s bowling and after the bowler claimed a wicket, he slapped Ghulam during the celebration.

29-year-old Ghulam replaced an out-of-form Babar Azam at number four and foiled England’s aggressive bowling and fielding to go on and score a fantastic century.

Ghulam led a fightback along with Saim Ayub after the hosts, who won the toss, were struggling at 19/2 with England spinner Jack Leach striking twice in the first hour.

The day ended Ghulam’s frustrating long wait for a place in the Pakistan team after he smashed a national record 1,249 runs in the 2020 domestic season.

Seeing India secure a dominant 280-run victory over Bangladesh in Chennai, former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali called out his country’s bowlers, for their poor mindset.

Basit claimed that Pakistani pacers like Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, etc. considered themselves bigger than India’s current bowling coach Morne Morkel, who was coaching the Pakistan team last year.

“The Pakistani bowlers consider themselves to be bigger than cricket. They thought that Morkel was nothing in front of us,” Basit said on his YouTube channel.

As the Pakistan team’s performance in all formats remains abysmal, some of their former cricketers have come down heavy at the team and the management. Even the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) hasn’t been spared by the retired stars.

Basit feels that the results against Bangladesh show the real difference between the Pakistan team and the Indian team at present.

“We got to know the difference. This is the same Bangladesh played against Pakistan, where it seemed as if Pakistan were completely on the back foot. This is the same Bangladesh that whitewashed Pakistan. The difference is of mindset, thinking and class,” Basit said.

After getting eliminated from the T20 World Cup in the group stages, the Pakistan team continued to face criticism on social media from fans and former players. Not only for their performances, the players are facing harsh criticism for bringing their families along during the tournament.

According to local media reports, a total of nearly 34 players, support staff and officials were part of the squad staying in USA. The team hotel also accommodated around 26 to 28 family members of the players which included wives, children, parents and even siblings. Players like Babar Azam, Haris Rauf, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Amir had their family members travelling with them.

Media also reported that 60 rooms were booked to accommodate the family members. “The extra expenses incurred on having families is obviously paid by the players but having family members around does hit the focus of the players,” a report stated.

As per a report from PTI, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering legal action to counter ‘unsubstantiated claims and reports’ against their players and team management. The PCB is looking to do so under a new defamation law passed by the Punjab government. This law will be used to pursue digital or mainstream media that insinuate corruption or make personal attacks on Pakistan players without any proof.

Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf was involved in a war of words with a fan in Florida. Rauf, who was having a stroll around the city with his wife, lost his cool at the man, who must’ve said something to him, which the Pakistan pacer didn’t like or agree with. As Rauf ran towards the man to attack him, a few people stopped him from doing so. Even Rauf’s wife tried stopping him, but the pacer manager to free himself from her grasp. The people around them did a great job in separating both of them otherwise it could have ended up being a fight as well.

Rauf was even heard saying, “he must be Indian” to the fan, but the fan replied saying that he was actually from Pakistan.

Rauf’s wife was constantly trying to calm him down but the cricketer looked visibly upset with the man confronting and constantly arguing with him.

After their disappointing elimination from the group stages of the T20 World Cup, the Pakistan team has received countless criticism from fans and former players.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam and five other players including Mohammad Amir, Imad Wasim, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan, and Azam Khan have decided to spend their holidays in London before returning to Pakistan after their disastrous T20 World Cup campaign. The six players will not land in Pakistan with the rest of the squad on Tuesday.
