Star Sports has once again signed former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, who gained popularity as a commentator, for the IPL season.

Known for his clever one-liners and “Khataak,” Sidhu entered politics in 2004 following a fruitful career as a commentator. The former player for India joined the BJP and ran for office from the Amritsar seat. Following his victory, Sidhu retained the seat until 2014 after winning consecutive elections.

Due to a political endeavour, Sidhu’s commentary career had to take a backseat, but as many had hoped, he is now back in the commentary game. In a social media post, Star revealed the news with the caption, “A wise man once said, ‘Hope is the biggest ‘tope’.”

The IPL is all set to commence from 22 March, with the first match featuring Chennai Super Kings against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
