The proposal to establish a two-tier cricket system, that will result in the ‘big three’ countries of England, Australia, and India to engage in more matches, has attracted harsh criticism from former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd. According to Clive, teams like the West Indies and other countries, who have put a lot of effort and time in earning Test status will suffer a massive blow with this shift.

The West indies great stated that this plan violates the significance of a global game, and will have a bad effect towards the growth of the sport. He also expressed concern about the marginalization that is possible towards the small cricketing nations.

I think it will be terrible for all those countries who work so hard to get to Test match status and now they’ll be playing among themselves in the lower section,” Lloyd was quoted as saying in the Trinidad & Tobago Guardian.

You could imagine they’re talking about dismantling the West Indies, that is not the way to go. The way to go is to give them (West Indies and other teams) the same amount of money so they can improve their facilities, get better systems in place so that they can improve their cricket,” the 80-year-old added.

The Sydney Morning Herald had reported that later this month ICC Chairman Jay Shah will have a meeting with the officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Cricket Australia Chairman Mike Baird, and England and Wales Cricket Board Chief Richard Thompson in order to go over the specifics.

On November 8, West Indies announced their 15-member squad for the first two T20Is of the 5-match T20I series against England at home grounds. Nicholas Pooran, Andre Russell, Shimron Hetmyer and Akeal Hosein are some names that are set to return to the squad after they missed T20Is against Sri Lanka last month.

As senior players have returned to the squad, Fabian Allen, Alick Athanaze, Andre Fletcher and Shamar Springer will miss a chance to face the English team at home. Spinner Matthew Forde has taken the place of Alzarri Joseph.

Joseph was not taken for matches as he received a suspension for two-matches since he walked off the field during the 3rd ODI after having an argument with captain Shai Hope.

Romario Shepherd has kept his place in the squad as well. Romario faced cramps during the final ODI of the series and Sherfane Rutherford was the player who had to bowl the remaining overs, which came out to be more expensive then they thought.

The T20 team is our most settled team with lots of experienced players,” West Indies head coach Daren Sammy said.

However, the difficulty will be picking the XI, as every single player is challenging for a spot. As we face a very good England team, I am confident that the selected squad will continue to play a brand of cricket that allows us to win games, and this ‘Rivalry’ series,”

The tour of Sri Lanka gives us a chance to test our depth and assess players in different situations, especially with several senior players missing out for various reasons, including a need for rest and rehabilitation from injury. We are confident in the squad’s ability to compete strongly against Sri Lanka,” said head coach Daren Sammy.

King, however, has been names in the ODI squad. Shai Hope is going to be leading the team with Alzarri Joseph as his deputy. Wicketkeeper-batter Jewel Andrew will also play his maiden ODI match.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announce the schedule for a three-match Test series against England, set to begin from October 7.

As less than a month remains for the series, the PCB is unable to find a partner for the media rights, which might possibly result in a significant financial loss and keep the fans of other countries from watching the game.

PCB was unable to get the media rights during the Pakistan vs Bangladesh two-match Test series as well, which hence resulted in the match not being broadcasted outside Pakistan.

“The PCB had initially set an ambitious reserve price of approximately $21 million for a three-year international media rights deal, but no bid came close to meeting this figure. The highest offer came from the foreign company Sports Five, which bid $7.8 million. A joint bid from two Pakistani companies amounted to around $4.1 million, while Willow TV offered $2.25 million. All bids were rejected as they fell short of the reserve price” reported Pakistan Cricket.

The PCB started a re-tendering process, specially for the home series against New Zealand along with the women’s series against West indies. A joint bid of $99,000 was taken as an ultimate offer.

As per Cricket Pakistan sources indicate that with time running out, the PCB may be forced to sell the rights at a significantly lower price to avoid a blackout in the UK.

The current situation does not only threaten the viewership of the series, but can potentially result in a financial hit to the PCB. This financial hit is sure to raise concerns with the management of media rights deals in the future.

The Women’s T20 World Cup has provided cricket fans with some of the most exhilarating matches and stunning chases in the sport’s history. As teams battle on the global stage, the chase of high targets often defines the outcomes of critical games. Here’s a look at the top 5 highest targets successfully chased in the history of the Women’s T20 World Cup, showcasing some of the most remarkable performances in the tournament.

West Indies vs Australia, 2023

On Monday, October 2, the West Indies women’s team defeated Australia in North Sydney with a record-breaking chase, making 213 to win the match. Australia scored 212/6 when they batted first, mostly because to the exceptional efforts of Phoebe Litchfield (52) and Ellyse Perry (70). They completely destroyed the bowlers from the West Indies.

Shabika Gajnabi was out of the game in the third over of the West Indies’ chase, giving them one of their poorest starts ever. To keep their team in the hunt, though, the seasoned pair of Hayley Matthews and Stafanie Taylor steadied the ship and fashioned a record 174-run partnership. Following Taylor’s departure at 59, Matthews did not let up and amassed 132 off just 64 balls, courtesy of five maximums and 20 boundaries.

England vs India, 2018

With a flawless pursuit of 199 points, the England Women’s team holds the second spot on this top ranking. They achieved the feat against India at Brabourne five and a half years ago. With the bat, India amassed a formidable 198/4 because to two outstanding half-centuries from Smriti Mandhana (76) and Mithali Raj (53), with the other batters chipping in with willow. It appeared like the total would be sufficient to give India an easy victory.

England vs Australia, 2017

England’s 179-run chase of Australia in Canberra six years ago has earned them another spot on this list. Considering the caliber of the Australian bowlers, the chase was astounding. It’s never simple to chase a score this large, let alone to score runs at will. Thanks to a fantastic century from Beth Mooney, Australia managed to score 178/2 in the 20 overs that were allowed. She scored 117 runs off of just 70 balls while opening, hitting 19 boundaries in addition to a maximum. Useful runs were also contributed by the other batters.

India vs Australia, 2020

The most successful chase by ndia took place in Melbourne three years ago, against a fierce Australian team. With England being the third team in the Tr-series, the squad’s triumph was particularly significant. Even though Alyssa Healy was dismissed for a 3-ball duck in the opening over of the game, the Australian team managed to score 173/5 in the first innings. With three maximums and eleven fours in 57 balls, Ashleigh Gardner’s impressive score of 93 runs was achieved. In addition, Meg Lanning contributed a fantastic 37 runs to help his team reach a manageable total.

South Africa vs Pakistan, 2019

When South Africa chased down 173 in Benoni four years ago in 2019, they recorded the fifth-highest run chase. South Africa encouraged Pakistan to try their hand with the willow after winning the toss. Pakistan scored 172/5 in first innings, demonstrating their excellent batting performance. With 75 runs off 37 balls, which included eight boundaries and three maximums, Nida Dar top scored. Aliya Riaz (35), and Bismah Maroof (37), also made significant contributions.

Pakistan was kept in the game by the consistent wicket-taking that followed the Proteas’ impressive start in the chase. But Lizelle Lee continued to fire from her end, scoring 60 runs at a 193.54 strike rate. With four wickets in the game’s penultimate over, South Africa secured a record victory thanks to a rapid 21 from Chloe Tryon and crucial contributions from Shabnim Ismail (10) and Sinalo Jafta (14).
