The board stated that the reason for this change in venues was because of their confidence in the readiness of these upgraded venues, and shared a release in order to announce the updated venue for the tri-nation ODI series.

“Given the advanced stage of preparations at the Gaddafi Stadium and the National Bank Stadium, the PCB has decided to relocate the upcoming tri-nation ODI series to these two venues. The series, featuring New Zealand and South Africa alongside Pakistan, was originally scheduled to be held in Multan,” said PCB in release. 

Both the stadiums are currently under renovations for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. PCB will be the host of the marquee event, which is set to take pace with all the matches to be played in Pakistan, along with the exception of India’s matches, which will be held in Dubai.

The venues for the semi-final and final of the Champions Trophy will either be within Pakistan, or it will change to Dubai. If India qualifies for the semi-final and final, the matches will be held in Dubai, otherwise Lahore will host the clashes.

Through the whole series, Bumrah had bowled more than 150 overs. The medical staff of BCCI is going to ensure whether the star pacer is ready for the upcoming ICC tournament. The excessive hard work is directly related to his injury, and hence the medical staff will determine his presence for the assignments.

Sources have told PTI that it is yet unknown what is the level of Bumrah’s injury. On February 20 in Dubai, India will play against Bangladesh in the series opener of Champions Trophy. If his injury falls into Grade 1 category, it will take Bumrah at least two or three weeks of rehabilitation before he can return to play.

Since this is not the World Cup year, it was clear that Bumrah will not play in the bilateral T20I series. However, as the Champions Trophy comes close, he would have played two or three ODIs against England due to the 50-over format.

Indian team is to engage with England in 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs beginning January 22. The harshness of Bumrah’s injury will now determine whether he takes part in the England series at all, or at least the last game on February 12.

Both Rohit and Kohli have retired from T20I format, and will only be taking part in the ODI side. As this will be the last 50-over assignment before the much-awaited Champions Trophy 2025, both the star players will be eyeing to have a good run with the bat and enter the marquee event as one of the top contenders.

After finishing the series, both the teams will face each other for the two-match Test series. According to reports from Cricbuzz, Jason is upset with a few recent decisions of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He was was supposed to fly out to South Africa along with the Test squad via Dubai, but there was no sign of him. It is believed that he has given in his resignation.

The report also stated that Jason has not been happy with the PCB for quite some time, especially since he got kept out from some important decisions during the recent home series against England. The last point of breakage seemed to be PCB’s decision to not renew the contract of assistant coach Tim Nielsen who was taken by the board in August.

Siddarth made his debut in 2018 and appeared in three ODIs and three T20Is. The 34-year-old played 88 first-class matches for Punjab and took 297 wickets at an average of 26.77 with 17 five-wicket hauls. Siddarth went to his official Instagram account to announce his retirement.

The time has now come to call time on my career in India and announce my retirement” Siddarth wrote.

The pacer had played 55 matches in IPL and taken 58 wickets, averaging at 8.63. He made his debut in T20Is during the clash against Ireland on 29 June 2018, and he played his first ODI match on July 12 2018.

Afif Hossain Dhrubo has been called up to the ODI squad after a year. Zakir Hasan has kept his spot in the squad after he gave his appearance in the ODI series against Afghanistan.

Nahid Rana kept his place in the squad after his outstanding ODI debut. Meanwhile, Towhid Hridoy had bee put to rest due to his groin injury.

Shakib Al Hasan is still not a member of the Bangladeshi squad. According to the BCB president Faruque Ahmed, Hasan is still more than capable of playing at the highest of levels for Bangladesh.

Shakib did not get to play his last Test match on home grounds since security reasons had expressed that he wants to play for his country in Champions Trophy 2024.

He was not a part of ODI series against Afghanistan, and now is not going to be playing against West Indies as well. This is going to be the last ODI series for Bangladesh before the major ICC tournament next year.

“He (Shakib) is not available for the ODIs against West Indies, and we have prepared our squad accordingly,” said a member of the selection panel on November 30.

Shakib is going to play in the upcoming Lanka T10 Super League during the ODI series between Bangladesh and West Indies. He is currently playing for Bangla Tigers in the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10 League.

An official from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) even stated that Shakib is not in the right condition to play and that there is a massive difference between league cricket and international cricket.

“Given his current mental state, we felt Shakib isn’t in the right condition to play. Playing franchise cricket is not the same as representing the national team,” the official said.

After the Abu Dhabi T10 League comes to an end, Shakib is going to be seen in action for Galle Marvels at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on December 11.

Jason said that CA is mainly focusing on the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Gillespie also added that even after the official broadcasters made excellent ads for Australia’s home season, there was no excitement for the Pakistan series.

“To be honest, I pretty much saw no promotion of our one-day series by Cricket Australia, which was a bit of a surprise. It’s pretty obvious that they’re prioritizing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series against India because I saw no promotion of this series. Fox do a great job promoting but it was pretty clear to us where CA’s priorities lie. That’s their prerogative and their decision, but I just didn’t see any advertising or promotion of this one-day series at all,” said Jason.

After the mediocre performance in the ODIs, Jason predicts that the Australian batters will return stronger. The victory against Australia in the series also thrilled him a lot.

“What we saw in this series is our bowling exposed some flaws in the Australian batting. I’m sure the Australians will look to right some wrongs and improve some things. That’s what good players and good teams do; you learn and adjust and adapt and be ready for the next challenge. It was pleasing not just to beat Australia but to beat them pretty convincingly,” he added.
