1. Most dismissals by bowled in an innings for Indian bowler

Sundar ended up dismissing 5 Kiwi batters through bowled at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. By doing this, he equaled the record held by some legendary Indian bowlers namely- Jasubhai Patel, Bapu Nadkarni, Kapil Dev, Anil Kumble and Ravindra Jadeja.

2. Best figures against New Zealand in WTC

The Indian spinner became the first-ever bowler to take 7 wickets in an innings against New Zealand in the World Test Championship thus, became the bowler with the best figures against the Black Caps in the ICC tournament. He broke the record previously held by Sri Lanka’s Prabath Jayasuriya who finished with figures of 6/42.

3. First bowler to take 5-wicket haul at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium

Sundar became the first-ever player to take 5 wickets in an innings in a Test match held at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Even though the stadium doesn’t play host to many matches, this is still quite an impressive achievement.

4. Best figures by an Indian bowler in WTC 2023-25 cycle

Sundar became the second Indian bowler after Ravichandran Ashwin to pick up 7 wickets in an innings in the ongoing WTC cycle. However, he bowled a more economical spell than Ashwin who ended with figures of 7/71 against West Indies while Sundar ended with 7/59 against New Zealand.
