Australian captain Pat Cummins announced two changes in the Playing XI for the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on the eve of Christmas. He confirmed that teenager Sam Konstas will make his debut as he replaced Nathan McSweeney along with Scott Boland who will be replacing Josh Hazlewood.

Cummins also provided an update on their players Travis Head who has turned out to be a headache for Indian team. The captain stated that Head has checked all the required circumstances that were required in the net session.

Trav’s good to go, he’ll play. He just ticked off some final things today and yesterday. But no worries about injury with Trav. He’ll go into the game fully fit,” Australian skipper told the reporters.

I don’t think you’ll see too much management of him throughout the game. He just kind of plays as is. Maybe around fielding, if he’s a bit uncomfortable, we will (manage him), but he’s fully fit,” he added.

It feels like the last 12 months, he’s been in this unbelievable vein of form and he just keeps going on with it,” said Cummins.

He’s hitting the ball really cleanly. You can see the pressure that he shifts back onto the opposition literally from the first ball that he walks out there,” he further added.

I’m loving that he’s in our team and I don’t have to try to set a field and bowl to him. He’s hitting the ball as well as I’ve ever seen anyone. So long may it continue.” he concluded.

A press meet organised for travelling Indian media ended up turning out to be controversial as the Australian media tried getting a quote from Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

Jadeja was getting late after having a conversation with the Indian media as the team bus was ready to leave Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and go to the hotel after practice. The Australian reporters did not seem happy as the media manager told them that they will not be giving a quote in English.

This is how the conversation went between Australia and team manager:

Australian media: One question in English?
Media manager: Sorry, we don’t have time now. You can see the team bus is waiting.
Aussie media: Can’t we take one question in English?
Media Manager: This was organised mainly for the travelling Indian media.

One of the few reporters who was present at the moment of the press meet said that it was not just the Australian media, but a few Indian reporters were also there who could not ask questions due to time issues. However, they did not argue with the media manager unlike the Australian reporters.

I was present there, and many Indian touring journalists didn’t get the opportunity to ask questions due to time constraints. However, after the press conference ended, a few Australian journalists got annoyed and argued with the Indian team’s media manager. They misbehaved as well, which was uncalled for. I cover press conferences regularly, and even during Australian press conferences, many Indian journalists don’t get the chance to ask questions due to time shortages, but we have never argued or misbehaved,” said one of the Indian reporters.

The Australian media is known for being the 12th man of their cricket team. They have often changed the narrative to suit their team, even if it a wrong decision by the umpires. The most recent one was when Mohammed Siraj got criticised for giving Travis Head an aggressive send-off.

It was followed by the verbal spat between Virat Kohli and an Australia reporter as the Indian batter did not wish for the media to be clicking and recording his children at the airport.

South Africa beat Sri Lanka by 109 runs in the second Test and won the two-match Test series 2-0, securing their spot at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 standings. The team is just one win away to qualify for their first ever WTC final.

South Africa are at the top with a 63.33 win percentage. This is their sixth win out of the ten Tests. Australia is following in closely with a percentage of 60.71. Indian team has secured nine wins out of the 16 total Tests they have played, and have a win percentage of 57.29.

After the whitewash on South African soil, Sri Lanka has kept their fourth position with a win percentage of 45.45, and they a over England by a little bit as they are at 45.24.

Coming to India, the team can still secure their chance to enter the WTC finals if they win the remaining three Tests against Australia and secure the series 4-1. This will take their win percentage to 63.15 and solidify their place in WTC Finals. However, if the team loses even one more Test, their win percentage will drop to 57.89.

In case such thing happens, Indian will have to be dependent on the outcomes of other teams, and will have to hope that Pakistan beats South Africa 2-0 and for Sri Lanka to whitewash Australia at home, with one or both Tests ending in a draw.

After Australia lost against India in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, their ace pacer Josh Hazlewood publicly criticized the batting performance of his team. This has sparked rumors about potential breaking within the team.

These speculations got further fueled by the remarks of Sunil Gavaskar where he stated that Hazlewood might have been dropped from the second Test due to his comments and not because of an actual injury.

With these ongoing rumors, Indian captain Rohit Sharma spoke about this situation. Though he acknowledged the challenges of adapting to different playing conditions, Rohit expressed how he is confident in the mental strength of his team, and how the team is always prepared to face any situations.

Rohit was speaking to the press on the eve of the second Test in Adelaide when he got asked about the rumored break within the Australian team. Rohit stated that he was not aware of any such issues within the Australian camp.

I seriously have no idea about it, what’s happening in their dressing room,” Rohit said.

After meeting with Virat Kohli, Australia’s Assistant minister of foreign affairs, Tim Watts, had a fan moment. Australian Prime Minister welcomed Indian team at the parliament House in Canberra on November 28. Tim Watts posted a selfie of this recent interaction to his official Instagram account.

The reputation Kohli holds as a world-renowned athlete has grown by a lot of folds after this incident as his personality continues to earn more respect across the world.

The capacity of the Indian cricketer to engage both the leaders and the supporters at the same time showcases his extensive impact on and off the field.

On the caption of the post, Tim Watts shared his conversation with Kohli, stating that he could only get to cheer for the Indian superstar when he is in action for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL. Tim also shared how Kohli performed well against the over over the years, and complimented his batting qualities.

A bit of a thrill to meet the Australian and Indian players in the PM’s XI game at Parliament House tonight. I told Virat Kohli that I support Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL because it’s the only opportunity I get to legitimately barrack for him. I give him the highest praise I can offer any international cricketer when I say that I’ve loved watching him play because he plays like an Australian. Just not when he’s playing AGAINST Australia of course,” Tim Watts captioned his Instagram post.

An Australian umpire got hospitalised last weekend as he suffered a massive blow to his face. Tony DeNobrega faced a hit by a straight drive.

According to Western Ausralian Suburban Turf Cricket Umpires Association, DeNobrega got kept under supervision of the doctors for a day, since surgery was not in question.

Spending the night in hospital Tony was fortunate enough not to have had any broken bones however the doctors are keeping him under observation as surgery is not out of the question. We wish Tony all the best for a fast recovery from this terrible incident and look forward to him being up and about shortly. The umpiring team is right behind you mate. Rest up Tony.” posted the WASTCA Umpires Association on their Facebook account.

A couple of umpires have died in the past decade due to being hit by a ball. The most recent accident was in 2019 where 80-year-old John Williams faced a fatal hit during a match in Wales.

Almost a decade ago, former Australian wicketkeeper-batter Rod Marsh asked for a change in rules for umpires can stand further away from the stumps. This will help them avoid the ball in case if it comes in their directions.

It’s only a matter of time before an umpire in an international or first-class match is seriously hurt, if not killed,” Marsh said in 2015.

If I happened to be umpiring right now I’d be wearing a baseball catcher’s helmet, a chest pad and shin guards,” he added.

India’s star batter Virat Kohli is one of the most athletic fielders in the cricket world. Kohli covers a lot of ground when he steps on the field and often comes up with fast throws. During a fielding session by coach T Dilip in Perth, Kohli refused to go easy on his teammates.

As the ground are larger in Australia, Dilip conducted drills for easy throws. In a video posted by BCCI, a player requested, saying “thoda easy rakh lo (keep it a bit easy)” to which Kohli respoded “Kyu Karein? Aur kam maaro udhar.”

The drill is very simple. Whoever throws first will be getting one point. What we wanted to do today was want everyone to get together and closer to the match in terms of what we wanted. So that is why today’s team drill was more related to retrieving where a fielder at the boundary throws the ball to the in-fielder. So instead of one long throw, we wanted to have two flat throws,” Dilip told BCCI.tv.

We put that into practice so that players know whether to stand towards the left or right so that they are in a proper position and not wasting time in turn. So players on the boundary are also aware that another person is waiting for it so that they can throw the ball in one bounce into the hands.”

In a recent video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Indian star batter Virat Kohli shed some light on his favourite Test century that he had ever scored in Australia. Kohli has interestingly scored 6 of his total 29 Test tons on Australian grounds.

Virat has showed his likeliness for the twin tons that he scored in Adelaide when he made his debut in 2014. Apart from that, he called for his masterplay at Perth in 2018 to be his favourite century he has scored in Australia.

My best knock in Australia is definitely my hundred at Perth, 2018-19 series that we played. I thought that’s the toughest pitch that I’ve played on in Test cricket, it was great to have a hundred on that one,” Kohli said in BCCI’s video.

Kohli has had an incredible average of 54.08 and 1352 runs in 13 games on Australian grounds. He came out to be the top run-scorer for India during the tours in 2011-12 and the 2014-15. In terms of most centuries scored by an Indian player in Australia, Kohli sits tied up with Sachin Tendulkar.

Pakistan team has turned back head after their historic ODI series win against Australia. Even though they have not been the favoured team who could have won, the Men In Green defied people’s expectations and beat Australia in the third ODI to secure the series 2-1 on Australian grounds.

Former England star cricketer Kevin Petersen shared his reaction to this historic win by Pakistan. He congratulated the team on their achievement and also suggested that they should make cricket their main priority instead of politics.

Pakistan WIN in Australia. This is the reason they HAVE TO sort out all the negative ‘noise’ and help the talent show off their skills. Put the politics aside and let the cricket do the talking!” Pietersen wrote on X.

The historic win is the first bilateral ODI series win for Pakistan over Australia in Aussie grounds since 2002. It also came out to be a momentous occasion for Mohammad Rizwan, as he captained his team for the first time in an ODI series. He also shared his happiness about the dedication of his team, along with dedicating the win to Pakistani fans.

Special moment for me, the nation will be very happy today, we didn’t perform as per expectations in the last couple of years. I’m the captain only for the toss and presentations – everyone gives me suggestions on the field, the batting group and the bowling group. All the credit to the bowlers, Australia in Australia isn’t easy, the conditions suit their style of playing, but the bowlers were outstanding. Also credit to the two openers, they made the chases easy. They (fans) don’t care a lot about the results, but the people back home are always behind us and I want to dedicate this victory to them,” said Rizwan after the match.

Australia suffered an embarrassing 9-wicket loss to the Pakistan team in the 2nd ODI which was played at Adelaide Oval on November 8. Pat Cummins was clearly not happy with the loss and also accepted the fact that they did not play well, but his focus seemed to be more on the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India.

Wasn’t one of our best days. They bowled well, but we should have done better and scored more than 160. There was a bit seam around there. We tried to attack (with some close-in fielders) but it wasn’t to be. I will leave it to him (Inglis), he has some experience. So let him be him. We have a week at home. Good training sessions needed, mind now switches to the red ball (for the upcoming Test series vs India),” said Pat Cummins in the post-match presentation.

Pakistan wrapped up Australia in 35 overs for just 163 runs. With his 71-ball 82, Saim Ayub helped Pakistan easily chase down the mark within 26.3 overs. This was his very second time playing an ODI match, and he went all out with bowling attack of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood.

It was Haris Rauf who had earlier stole the show as he picked up five wickets and broken half of the Australian batting lineup. Now, the third and final ODI will be the deciding match for who will come out victorious.
