‘Didn’t quite realize…’: Sam Konstas gives MASSIVE statement on heated exchange with Virat Kohli

The Australia batter was involved in a heated altercation with Kohli after the India cricketer had shoulder pushed him during the first session

19-year-old Australia batter Sam Konstas made headlines during the first day of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne with his highly impressive knock of 60 runs from 65 deliveries. The right-hander scored 6 boundaries and 2 sixes and in particular, took a liking to India pacer Jasprit Bumrah, scoring both of his sixes against the seamer.

During the first session, Konstas was also involved in a heated exchange with India’s Virat Kohli. After the end of the 10th over, Kohli shoulder pushed Konstas after which the duo exchanged a few words on the field.

Speaking after his dismissal, Konstas opened up on what transpired with Kohli in the middle, saying emotions got the better of both of them.

“I think the emotions got to both of us. I didn’t quite realize as I was doing my gloves. But, it happens in cricket,” Konstas told 7Cricket.

Following the incident, the International Cricket Council (ICC) fined Kohli by 20 per cent of his match fee and also gave him a demerit point. The India cricketer, however, did escape a match ban.

On the other hand, Konstas was neither fined nor was he given demerit points by the global body, which means that they solely hold Kohli responsible for the incident.
