The Indian pacer will be returning to the Punjab Kings (PBKS) after the franchise exercised their Right to Match card on the player.

At first, the pacer was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), however the Punjab-Kings franchise didn’t waste any time to exercise their RTM card on the pacer, who has performed brilliantly for them in previous seasons.

Arshdeep was the first player of the 2025 auction to be sold. The pacer was earlier released by the Punjab-based franchise, who only retained 2 uncapped players in Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh.

The pacer is known for his ability to bowl fantastic yorkers and can prove to be crucial for Punjab in the death overs. The 25-year-old will definitely be among the most expensive pacers of the 2025 IPL auction.

As they opted to bat first, India posted a mammoth of a score of 283 for 1. This massive score was mainly possible due to the unbeaten centuries from Tilak Varma (120 not out off 47 balls) and Sanju Samson (109 not out off 56 balls).

India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya was not seen to be at his best during the 2nd T20I against South Africa. India lost early wickets in the match and the players were struggling to score big numbers for the team. Hardik Pandya was a certain player who had played a lot of dot balls. During the final overs, Pandya was willing to take most of the strike for himself, rather than letting Arshdeep Singh play.

During the 19th over, Hardik might have felt confident from himself, as he made a solid statement to Arshdeep . Pandya told Arshdeep to “enjoy from the other end now,” which indicated that he as the intention to face the rest of the balls.

Pandya was batting on 33 off 35 balls, but he ended up struggling against the bowling from Gerald Coetzee and Marco Jansen. He did not touch a single ball in the penultimate over. In the final over, he got dropped twice and was refusing to take a single for four deliveries.

On the penultimate delivery, he snatched couple of runs and finished the innings with a boundary. Though he told Arshdeep to stay at the non-striker’s end, Pandya only managed to score 6 runs in 10 balls.

Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh has unfollowed Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Instagram, which has raised questions regarding his future in the team after they revealed their list of retained players before the mega auctions of Indian Premier League (IPL)2025.

31 October was the deadline for all the IPL franchises to submit their list of retained players, where PBKS retained only two uncapped players and decided to release all the star players.

Arshdeep has been with Punjab as an important player since his debut in 2019. He is of great value for the team because of his ability to swing the ball both ways and taking wickets towards the end.

His decision to unfollow the franchise on Instagram has also sparked rumours that there might be some sort of break between the player and franchise. It will come out to be interesting to watch what team make an offer to Arshdeep Singh, and where he will go with his cricket career as the mega auctions for the IPL 2025 come close.

Though all eyes are set on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), the Indian T20I team will be in action from November 8 in a four-match T20I series against South Africa. The series opener will beheld at Kingsmead Stadium in Durban, second at St. George Park in Gqeberha, third at Supersport Park in Centurion, and last match at the Wanderers Stadium in Jo’burg.

In the Indian team, no member of the Australia tour is taken in the South Africa tour, which means a number of changes are there in the team. This means that Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, and Harshit Rana will be missing out. Additionally, Riyan Parag and Mayank Yadav will also miss the series due to injuries.

Indian team will have four changes in the playing XI as Nitish, Riyan, Mayank and Washington have played all three games in series against Bangladesh. Tilak Varma is one name who will make a comeback in the national squad after 11 months ad a middle order batter.

Ravi Bishnoi is a player who will likely get the approval or South Africa as the team will need a better batter at number eight. The Indian team will likely go with three pacers, which might suggest Avesh Khan making a comeback with Arshdeep leading the attack. Yash Dayal, a pacer from IPL franchise RCB, is going to make his debut in T20Is after just a week of getting retained for Rs. 5 crore by the franchise.

India’s Likely Playing XI for 1st T20I vs South Africa:
Sanju Samson (WK), Abhishek Sharma,ย Suryakumar Yadavย (C), Tilak Verma, Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Yash Dayal, Avesh Khan

IPL franchise Punjab Kings (PBKS) made a surprise move by retaining only 2 players ahead of the 2025 IPL mega auction. Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh are the only 2 players who are confirmed to play in the franchise in the upcoming season so far.

Rest of the squad has been released which includes Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh who was among the star performers for the franchise in the past few seasons.

It is safe to say that PBKS will have to go all out in the upcoming mega auction and will basically have to form an entire new squad. However, the Punjab-based franchise will enter the auction with over Rs 100 crore as their purse which is far more than any other franchise.

It will be interesting to see on what player would PBKS use their Right to Match card (RTM) and what players they would go after in the mega auction which will reportedly be held in November.

Before the mega auctions for IPL 2025, all the 10 franchises announce their retained player list. Many players kept their ties with their existing teams, while some of them decided to not continue with the same teams. There are a lot of players that have been retained, and a lot who are now to be taken in auctions. Let us take a look at the top 5 Indian players to watch out for in IPL 2025.

5) Ishan Kishan

Mumbai Indians decided to release wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, even though he is an aggressive top-order player having the ability to change the match within few deliveries. For his high quality playing skills, he is surely to be watched out for.

4) Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep is one of the best bowlers in present times, and is capable to do well with new ball in death overs. He has also come out to be the leading wicket-taker in the 2024 edition of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, and hence players would have to play cleverly when facing him.

3) KL Rahul

Even though he was the leading run-scorer for LSG in the history of IPL, KL Rahul did not get retained by his Lucknow-based franchise this time. The top-batter has lot of matches played so far and amassed lot of runs as well since his debut. Hence, as a seasoned player, he should be looked out cleanly.

2) Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas has led KKR to win the IPL title in 2024, even though he now got released from the franchise. Shreyas is the only captain to have lead two IPL teams in the final, and because of his leadership skills he is going to be on the watch list for many.

1) Rishabh Pant

Rishabh was with Delhi Capitals in IPL since 2016. He is one of the biggest names that is going to be the part of IPL 2025 mega auctions. Pant is going to turn out to be a good option due to his wicketkeeping and his ability to win matches single-handedly with the bat.

During the second Test between India and New Zealand in Pune, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Indian squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy have received their maiden call for the long format of the game.

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali expected Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh to be named in the squad and hence questioned the selectors for their decision with the squad, and blamed them for putting too much pressure on pacer Jasprit Bumrah.

I am surprised why there is no Mohammed Shami in the squad for the Australia tour. You have put all the load on Bumrah. Arshdeep (Singh) could have been in the squad because he brings variety. In this team, India’s fast bowling is not complete without Shami. Without Shami, India might face problems in Australia. In Australia, your weapon is fast bowling. India will have problems in Australia,” Basit said on his YouTube channel.
