Fans, along with franchises are very much excited about the event that is going to be held on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The final list of players up for auction has 208 oversea layers and 366 Indian players. The organizers have eliminated 1000 registrations from the list of 574 layers.

Before the auctions, retentions have been the biggest thing to talk as star players such as KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, etc. could not make it to the list of their previous teams.

Among the 574 players, 366 are Indian players and the rest of the 208 players are overseas players, along with 3 separate players being from the associate nations. The mega auction is going to include 318 uncapped Indian players and 12 uncapped overseas players.

A total of 204 slots will be available for the 10 teams to grab their players, with 70 being there for overseas players.

Rs. 2 crore is the highest base price, while the minimum bid amount set for a player is Rs. 30 lakh. Only 81 players can come with a base price of Rs. 2 crore. However, as many as 320 players have registered themselves with the base price.

A maximum of 204 players will be sold in the mega auctions. This is because each team can only assemble a total of up to 25 players, including no more than 8 foreign players. A total of 46 players have already been taken by the franchises.

In a few days, BCCI is going to make the information public about the complete list of players which will be available to buy, along with all the necessary information on which set they will be along with their price.

For reference, only 333 players out of the 1166 made it to the final list for the auctions last year. Before that, in the 2023 edition of the IPL, 600 players out of 1214 made it to the auctions.

Out of the total 1575 players who have registered, 1165 of them are Indian players and the rest of the 409 players are overseas cricketers. The player pool consists of 320 capped players and 1224 uncapped players. A total of 30 players from associate nations have also registered for the auctions.

The franchises are allowed to have only 25 players in their squads, hence only 204 players will be able to take the contracts for the IPL in the upcoming auctions.

The facilities for the franchise officials will be at Hotel Shangri-la, which is just 10 minutes away from the venue.

Since the dates fall on the first test match between India and Australia from November 22-26, some changes in the schedule had been done. According to reports, Disney Star, the broadcaster of India-Australia Test series and Indian Premier League, was keen on preventing the direct overlapping of both the events.

The Test match between India and Australia will begin at 7:50 in the morning, and the auction are going to be held in afternoon (IST), and hence the two events will not overlap with each other.

Saudi Arabia batsman Faisal Khan on Thursday stroked the third fastest half-century in a Twenty20 International, taking 15 deliveries to reach the milestone.

In a chase of 136 against Kuwait during an ACC Western Region T20 contest, Faisal blasted a match-winning unbeaten 28-ball 83 while belting seven fours and as many sixes.

India’s Yuvraj Singh holds the record for the fastest fifty in T20Is, taking a mere 12 deliveries during against England in the group stages of the first edition of the ICC World T20 in 2007 – that also saw him hitting six sixes in an over.

Colin Munro of New Zealand took 14 deliveries against Sri Lanka in 2016 for the second fastest such score.

With the win, Saudi Arabia qualified for the final of the tournament against an unbeaten Qatar.

Opener Sajid Cheema led a blazing start to the chase scoring 28 pff just 13 balls before being dismissed by Muhammad Kashif. He had lost his fellow opener Shamsudheen Purat for seven to Fiaz Ahmad.

Kashif then removed Ibrarul Haq for a first-ball duck but Khan found support in Abdul Wahid, who made 17 off 19 balls. Saudi Arabia chased down the target in just 9.1 overs, thus boosting their run-rate significantly, and that helped them qualify for the final. Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait finished with four points each, behind Qatar who amassed eight, but Saudi Arabia had the best run-rate among the three, owing to Khan’s whirlwind knock.

Khan’s effort bettered West Indies’ Shai Hope’s 23-ball 55-run knock against Bangladesh in December 2017 during which the occasional wicketkeeper batsman got to his fifty in just 16 balls. Khan’s effort is also the fourth fastest in T20s, but there are three more players who have scored a half-century in 15 balls in T20 cricket. Martin Guptill (in New Zealand Domestic Twenty20 in 2008), Yusuf Pathan (in the IPL in 2014) and Sunil Narine (in The IPL in 2017).

Also, there are seven players who have hit a half-century in 14 balls, one in 13 balls and three in 12 balls including Chris Gayle (in the BBL in 2016) and Hazratullah Zazai (in the APL in 2018). Yuvraj’s effort in the inaugural ICC World T20 tops the chart as it came in 2007.

Dubai: The ICC World T20 Asia Qualifier ‘A’ began with hosts Kuwait registering a resounding 102 -run win over the Maldives in the opening game at Sulaibiya Cricket Ground last evening. Kuwait, having won the toss and electing to bat against underdogs Maldives, made the worst possible start, losing two wickets off consecutive deliveries in the first over, including that of captain Kashif Sharif, to leave them reeling at 1-2.

Opener Usman Waheed was then joined by Ali Zaheer and the two steadied the ship for Kuwait, putting together a cautious but vital 60-run partnership, firmly sowing the seeds of recovery and laying the foundations for a late innings assault. The wickets of Ali Zaheer and Usman Waheed in quick succession brought the hard-hitting Mohammad Asghar to the crease along with Ravija Sandaruwan.

Asghar, after an initial consolidation period, teed off scoring 66 runs off just 38 balls to inject some much-needed impetus into the Kuwait innings. He was well supported by Ravija, who rotated the strike before also finishing with a flourish, ending on 29 off 16 as the two powered Kuwait to 170 in 20 overs. Chasing a target of 171, Maldives struggled to get going against a disciplined bowling effort. They lost wickets at regular intervals throughout the innings and eventually succumbed for 68, as Kuwait ran out winners by a commanding 102 runs.

Seamer Imran Ali bowled an exceptional spell, taking five wickets, including a hat-trick, and conceding just 2 runs to seal victory and earn himself the Player of the Match award. In the day’s other game, Qatar took on pre-tournament favorites UAE at the Entertainment City Ground in Doha.

Qatar, having won the toss and elected to bat, looked solid through the innings but the loss of wickets at key intervals prevented them from building any momentum. They eventually finished on 143 off the 20 overs, led by a 26-ball 40 from Faisal Javed Khan, Tamoor Sajjad’s 31 and a fine finish by Nouman Sarwar.

In response, the UAE rarely looked troubled as a fine innings of 71 from 45 balls from captain Rohan Mustafa led them to a comfortable six-wicket victory with 11 balls to spare. The UAE skipper also won the Player of the Match award as the UAE laid down a marker for the other teams.

After the game, Mustafa said, “I am delighted to bag the first Player of the Match award”, and hoped to continue the run of form through the tournament. UAE coach and former England international Douggie Brown was pleased to be off to a winning start and said he was “looking forward to continuing the winning streak”.

In the game in Doha, Bahrain took on Saudi Arabia with the former winning the toss and electing to bat first. The Bahrain innings, though, never got going, the lack of regular partnerships leaving them all out on 106 off 19.5 overs. Saudi’s excellent bowling was led by Khawar Abbas and Usman Ali, who picked up seven wickets between themselves.

Saudi Arabia chased down the total at a canter, winning by seven wickets with 4.5 overs to spare. Abbas was adjudged Player of the Match for his spell of 3 for 20. He said he was happy to get a good start in tournament, and he focused on the captain’s plan and doing the basics right. The tournament will continue on Saturday with hosts Kuwait taking on Qatar at the Sulaibiya Cricket Ground, while Maldives taking on Bahrain and the UAE facing Saudi Arabia at the Entertainment City Cricket Ground.
