India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has recently been in the headlines amid rumours of divorce with his wife Dhanashree Verma. Chahal got engaged to Dhanashree on August 8, 2020 and the couple got married in a private ceremony on December 22, 2020.

Amid the massive announcement, several reports claimed that Chahal removed all pictures with Dhanashree from his social media account recently, giving rise to the divorce rumours.

Meanwhile, Chahal is reportedly set to appear on Bigg Boss 18 this Sunday according to the Times of India. The report further claimed that both Shreyas Iyer and Shashank Singh will also be appearing on the show. The trio are set to feature for the Punjab Kings in the upcoming season of the IPL.

Earlier, Dhanashree had broken her silence on divorce rumours with husband Chahal.

“The past few days have been incredibly tough for my family and me. What’s truly upsetting is the baseless writing, devoid of fact checking, and the character assassination of my reputation by faceless trolls spreading hate,” Dhanashree wrote in an Instagram story.

“I’ve worked hard for years to build my name and integrity. My silence is not a sign of weakness; but of strength. While negativity spreads easily online, it takes courage and compassion to uplift others. I choose to focus on my truth and move forward, holding onto my values. The truth stands tall without the need for justification,” Dhanashree further wrorte.

Following this, Chahal posted a cryptic message on Instagram which read: “Silence is a profound melody, for those who can hear it above all the noise.” – Socrates.

The past few days of social media has been filled with divorce rumours of Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife Dhanashree Verma. However, none of them have made any official statement about the topic.

Dhanashree has been facing a lot of criticism and trolling on social media, to which she has finally decided to speak up against. She revealed how this unnecessary trolling has been very tough for her and her family. though she did not address the divorce rumours, she completely shut down the critics as she stated that her silence is not her weakness and the truth does not need justification.

The past few days have been incredibly tough for my family and me. What’s truly upsetting is the baseless writing, devoid of fact checking, and the character assassination of my reputation by faceless trolls spreading hate. While negativity spreads easily online, it takes courage and compassion to uplift others. I choose to focus on my truth and move forward, holding onto my values. The truth stands tall without the need for justification,” wrote Dhanashree on her Instagram story.

During the rumours of his divorce from Dhanashree Verma, Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal further sparked these rumours as he did a strange act on social media. Notably, Chahal removed all the photos he had with Dhanashree from his account.

The specific reasons for this act are yet to be known, but some people close to the couple claim that they have been living apart for a few months and the chances of them going their own ways is likely. Chahal and Dhanashree are now on the verge or divorcing after 5 years of marriage.

The personal life of Yuzvendra Chahal is currently the talk of the country, because there are rumours floating around related to his alleged divorce from his wife Dhanashree Verma. The couple have unfollowed each other on social media, and both of them have deleted all the photos where they were seen together.

Now, the star leg-spinner has gave even more fuel to these ongoing rumours, as he made a strange post on his Instagram account. On his Instagram story, Yuzvendra Chahal shared a picture of Green philosopher Socrates, which goes as “Silence is a profound melody, for those who can hear it.” This might be a reference to the massive speculations about his divorce, along with the fact that he is not speaking much about this topic.

However, this is not the first time Chahal has made a social media post between the rumours of his divorce. He had made posted another cryptic story on his Instagram.

Hard work spotlights the character of people. You know your journey. You know your pain. You know what all you have done to reach here. The world knows. You stand tall. You have worked with all your sweat to make your father and your mother proud. Keep standing tall like a proud son always,” the Instagram story read.

Neither Yuzvendra not Dhanashree has come out to make any sort of confirmations regarding these speculations. They have also not denied the rumours regarding their divorce.

Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will be donning the jersey of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League after getting sold to the franchise for an enormous fee of INR 18 crore.

With this, Chahal has now become the most expensive spinner in IPL history. Earlier, the Indian spinner was shockingly released by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) ahead of the IPL auction.

Chennai Super Kings took the initiative to acquire him by starting the bidding, but soon it was PBKS and Lucknow Super Giants who were involved in a fiery bidding war.

When it looked like PBKS had finally got their man, Sunrisers Hyderabad also joined in the bidding. However, the Punjab-based franchise would finally manage to get the player’s services at a whopping fee of 18 crore.

This is the first spinner that the PBKS have added to the side and the third player that they have bought in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Chahar taking a wicket during a T20I
Deepak Chahar

1. Deepak Chahar – 6/7

During a T20I between India and Bangladesh in 2019, Chahar rampaged through the opposing batting order. The target of 175 runs proved to be too much for the Tigers, who could only manage to score 144 before getting bundled out.

Yuzvendra Chahal

2. Yuzvendra Chahal – 6/25

The Indian spinner decimated England’s batting order by racking up 6 wickets during a T20I back in 2017. Thanks to Chahal picking up wickets constantly, the chase of 203 became a daunting task for the Three Lions which they ultimately failed to achieve and lost by 75 runs.

Bhuvneshwar taking a wicket during a T20I
Bhuvneshwar Kumar

3. Bhuvneshwar Kumar – 5/4

The Indian pacer bowled an incredible spell which saw him give away just 4 runs throughout his quota of 4 overs against Afghanistan in 2022. Bhuvneshwar’s spell massively helped India in restricting the opposition to a total of 111/8 in 20 overs.

Kuldeep taking a wicket during a T20I
Kuldeep Yadav

4. Kuldeep Yadav – 5/17

The left-arm Indian spinner bowled the fabulous spell against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2023. The target of 202 runs was easily defended by the Men in Blue, who riding on Kuldeep’s 5-wicket haul, bundled out the hosts for 95 and won the match by a massive 106-run margin.

Chakravarthy taking a wicket during a T20I
Varun Chakravarthy

5. Varun Chakravarthy – 5/17

The Indian spinner dismantled the South African batting order by racking up wicket-after-wicket. The Proteas had no answer to Chakravarthy’s bowling and it made the target of 125 look massive. However, the spinner’s efforts would eventually all go in vain as South Africa achieved the target with an over to spare.

IPL franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) retained their core ahead of the upcoming mega auction. The 5-time IPL champions managed to retain massive India stars Jasprit Bumrah (INR 18 crore), Suryakumar Yadav (INR 16.35 crore), Hardik Pandya (INR 16.35 crore), Rohit Sharma (INR 16.30 crore) and finally Tilak Varma (INR 8 crore).

MI’s biggest challenge in the auction will be to fill the squad with a comparatively low budget of INR 45 crore. Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra believes that the franchise could enter the bidding war for this prominent Indian spinner.

“Given their retentions, Mumbai Indians may end up having an entire Indian batting lineup and an entire overseas bowling lineup, apart from a couple of Indian spinners. Whether they get him or not, they will definitely go after Yuzvendra Chahal. They may also want to look at Washington Sundar,” said Aakash Chopra, speaking on his YouTube channel.

Despite being the highest-wicket taker in IPL and the only bowler to take over 200 wickets in the league, Chahal was surprisingly released by the Rajasthan Royals (RR).

On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) released Washington Sundar after retaining their power-packed players who destroyed several IPL sides last season. However, having recently impressed for India in the T20I and Test format, Sundar may fetch a high price in the mega auction.

Chopra added that though MI can bid hard for Ishan Kishan, the wicketkeeper-batter may be out of their budget. Instead he named a few alternatives that the franchise can go after.

“They’ll need a wicket-keeper batter. Maybe they go towards Quinton de Kock, or perhaps Jitesh Sharma or perhaps Phil Salt. They will need an overseas opener and wicket-keeper batter. Jitesh does not fit that completely, but he is an Indian,” said Chopra.

A few days back, it was revealed that the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have retained 3 players ahead of the mega auction namely – Virat Kohli (INR 21 crore), Rajat Patidar (INR 11 crore), and Yash Dayal (INR 5 crore).  RCB is now set to enter the mega auction with a purse of INR 83 crore, the second-largest reserve among the 10 franchises.

Former South Africa and RCB star, AB de Villiers revealed the main targets that the franchise should go after in the upcoming mega auction. The first name that de Villiers took is of former RCB star Yuzvendra Chahal, who was released by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) ahead of the auction. Secondly, he also wants RCB to go after veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

“Rs. 83 crore to spend, which is fantastic, I want the priority to be a world-class spinner. Let’s just get Yuzi back. Let’s stop messing around. Let’s get Yuzi back in RCB where he belongs. He should never have left. RCB can also get Ravi Ashwin, I fancy Washi Sundar as well. But with Ravi Ashwin, he has all the experience, you know what you get from him and he can also win you a game with bat in hand. Imagine if we get the twin spins from RR at RCB — these are guys who know their games in and out. I would be very happy about that. Anyway, Yuzi Chahal is my main priority,” de Villers said.

The next 2 names that he took were that of South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada and veteran Indian pacer Bhuveneshwar Kumar, emphasizing that the franchise should go ahead with forming a “tournament-winning bowling attack”.

“Kagiso Rabada, let’s get him at RCB. Rabada, Yuzi Chahal and then we can think about Ravi Ashwin. Get those three there. We are talking about a tournament-winning bowling attack there. Here is my list of my four priority players — Yuzi Chahal, Kagiso Rabada, Bhuvi Kumar and R. Ashwin. I almost spent my entire purse on them. We can make a plan with the rest of the money we have left in the auction. Have a full go at that,” de Villers said.

The former South Africa batter named a few alternatives that RCB can end up getting if they aren’t able to get Rabada. He also appealed to head coach Andy Flower to strategically pick the team based on the requirements needed while playing in Bengaluru.

“If you can’t get Rabada, get hold of Mohammed Shami. If you can’t get him, get hold of Arshdeep Singh. So there’s lots of options. So there’s a lot of talent. Please, Andy Flower and guys. We need to get it right. We need a trophy! No, actually, we need a team that understands the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, a team that can play there, understand the plans and play according to plans,” de Villiers concluded.

Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal showed his magic once again by grabbing his second-consecutive 5-wicket haul in County Cricket as his side Northamptonshire resisted a Leicestershire fight-back to secure the victory by 9 wickets win in the English County Championship.

Following up on his figures of 4/82 in his first innings, Chahal did even better and claimed a 5-wicket haul in the second innings. He finished with a 9-wicket haul in the match and was crucial to his side’s victory.

Thanks to his fifer, Leicestershire were bowled out for 316 and were only able to set a target of 137, which was easily achieved by the Northants in 30.3 overs. Skipper Luke Procter (68 not out) and George Bartlett (54 not out) sealed the chase.

Leicestershire, after resuming the final day on 69/4, recovered through strong batting from Scott Currie and Tom Scriven (48), with Currie reaching a century (120) before being dismissed by Chahal for his fifth wicket.

Chahal also dismissed key players, including skipper Lewis Hill (14) with a well-pitched delivery that turned sharply, and Liam Trevaskis (2) with a catch at short leg.

Despite conceding runs during an aggressive 110-run (141 balls) partnership between Currie and Scriven, including an expensive 19-run over, Chahal’s persistence paid off as he eventually claimed Currie’s wicket to have them reeling at 303/9. Their innings lasted 3 more overs with Saif Zaib (2/61) dismissing Louis Kimber.

In the previous match, Chahal had claimed 5/45 and 4/45 in Northants’ 133-run win over Derbyshire.
